Wow. But many Thais will still be drinking and bonking as usual. Just that establishments will be closed. :D

I was planning to hold private parties to drink and make merry since the girls are all so free and no need to go work. U make me feel like I'm a devil. :o

Thai people continue to bonk and drink? Think twice:

2016Summae – following the official announcement of the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej there is now an official period of mourning of one year from 14 October 2016; you should respect the feelings and sensitivities of the Thai people at this time; access to entertainment, including restaurants, bars, and shopping areas may be restricted and you should behave respectfully when in public areas; if possible, wear sombre and respectful clothing when in public; check local media regularly and follow the advice of the local authorities

Think twice? I think u really dun understand Thai people. As much as many are mourning for the king , the majority of the Thai people are much more bothered about their own lives. People will still bonk and drink. Drugs will still be abused , alcohol shall be consumed privately. Public holiday today , some cinemas are closed as well as tv has nothing to show. Of course more will be bonking away at home/hotels.:p

555 in Thailand don't believe what you see on the surface.
You know the Khun Thai too well! :)

I saw TV broadcastings of the crowd outside the hospital.
I think the volume of their cries even louder than when their own parents die!
But can understand their sadness as to Thais he is like a god.

Must wear black clothes when go Thailand?
It's silly lah as we are also not Thais.
Unless you say you are working in some Thai company or attend some event then understandable lah.

As long as we stay respectful and keep a low profile that should suffice. :)

What you said is true, but imagine you wearing bright pink to attend someone's funeral. adaptation, the odd one out is the unique and special one, but for this case, it's basic respect, and the Thai knows if you have basic consideration or respect for them.

You don't have to wear black, just keep your shirt plain or dark colour. Just don't wear bikini or bright colour will be fine.

i saw a photo of people taking mrt, 95% wear black. If we wear non-black, it will standout a lot and maybe many glare at you. I scare paiseh, so better wear black
