Electric cars are green only if the electricity used to charge the batteries come from generators which have low or zero carbon footprint.
In Singapore electricity is generated by methods which are anything but environmentally friendly and this includes palm oil and natural gas.
In fact Singapore has one of the biggest palm oil based power plants in the whole world. Every single electric car in Singapore therefore contributes to the haze that the Island has to put up with for months on end annually.
The Tesla car is environmentally friendly only if the charging comes from electricity derived from wind farms, hydro or natural thermal sources.
