This is a yearly thing. Every major holidays like Hari Raya ramadan period and every pre-CNY period also have raids. Newton has been raid no less than half a dozen time on a yearly basis (guessing),they are still there,hehehe...i have yet to see a booking joint got raid till they must shut down from the few years of reading the old and new Batam thread. *touch wood*
Nearly 3 years in Batam,booking joints has blossom itself to a bigger number today. They are like Hydra with many heads,you try to cut off one,2 more grows in its place again. If i dont remember wrong,there was about 10 booking joint when i 1st started,hehehe...today? I didnt even bother to count.
To me,it is already becoming like a drama that the Batam police dept must put up for the public to watch every year. Its year end,Police also hope to get some bonuses too. Easiest way,just 'knock knock' and "money money" come. How to do that in simpler way,find a few scapegoats (in this case New Berry,Happy 8 and some smaller scale shops),and the surviving rest will 'bow'.
Win-win for all.

On a more temperamental note,i am also affected by New Berry's raid becos one of my back up CNY girl works there and her contract was suppose to end next month. Hope all's well for her.
