for makati, u can try oxford suites or best western astor. actually not difficult to commute in philippines. taxi is cheap but usually i commute with jeepney. quite fun once u learn how to take a jeepney. if u take a taxi make sure its on the meter. also dun raise ur voice at filipinos. they are quite proud people and i once got thrown out of a taxi because i shouted at his unreasonable price he wanted to charge me.
