As a Chinese, I can't master my Chinese characters. As a Singaporean, I can't master my 1st language, English. Now come to Thai, I dun bother to learn them.

I'm agreed with you. When in Thailand, if you can speak Thai, they won't chop you on farang price. Even taking taxi, they will automatic on meter, no need to ask... Go to some temple or tourist place, you only need to pay Thai price. When come to business, they will feel more comfortable to deal with you, coz you learn their language and respect their culture... Most important is when you hook for girl, they also will like you more... 5555

Dunno whether is fortunate or unfortunate, I have not work in Singapore for more than 10 yrs. I have been moving from city to city. Been based in each city for at least 2 yrs, JKT, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, BKK, I have never take the effort to learn the language. Luckily have not been ripped off big time. My next city might be the up and coming Yangon.

I have to admit I am lazy to learn too.
