It is common to develop side effects while taking antidepressants, unfortunately, for some people, these side effects do not go away even after quitting the medication. For others, symptoms only start appearing when they stop taking the medication or begin to reduce the dose. [1]

Post-SSRI sexual dysfunction is an iatrogenic disorder in which individuals who have been administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or other serotonin reuptake-inhibiting (SRI) drugs experience persistent changes in sexual, cognitive and emotional function for an extended period after ceasing to take the drug. Although it is most commonly caused by SSRIs, cases have also been reported following the use of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), SRI tricyclic antidepressants, SRI antihistamines, tetracycline antibiotics such as doxycycline, and analgesics such as tramadol. [1]

The medical term, 'PSSD', does not accurately highlight the debilitating cognitive and emotional impairment that many people with this condition also suffer from. [1]

Anecdotally, PSSD has also been reported to occur with certain antipsychotics and tricyclic antidepressants.

It is common to develop side effects while taking one of these medications, however, it is not currently known what proportion of people do not recover fully when they stop taking them. For some people with PSSD, symptoms only appear when they stop taking the medication or begin to reduce the dose.

Loss of libido Skin numbness

Vaginal dryness Changes in menstrual cycle
Decreased seminal volume and/or quality Anhedonia

This list cannot fully convey the distressing nature of living with PSSD. Patients describe the loss of emotion as completely removing color from their lives as if someone had turned off a switch – they find themselves in a world without love, passion, excitement, or awe. The loss of emotion and cognitive symptoms create difficulties with navigating the world of work, study, relationships, and other social situations and can leave people with PSSD feeling extremely isolated and in need of support from those around them.

I bought generic sildenafil from a seller here. The pills were 100mg each. I read online that it might be too strong at the start and the side effects might be severe.

I split the pill into quarters (25mg each) and it made me feel like a new man. I took the pill about 30 mins beforehand. 10 mins after taking the pill, I feel my body heating up, which proves that it is working.

After the effect wore off, I feel a little more tired than usual. So those who want to try out, please take note.

i highly second the first part. try your best to never take SSRI for PE. a holistic approach is much preferred.

regarding clinically diagnosed depression - sadly if you're suffering from depression and diagnosed in IMH or SGH mental ward, there's little you can do to avoid SSRI or SNRI. Especially SSRI.
reason being they are still very much a textbook and guidelines method for treating depression. and psy docs WILL prescribe to you, whether you want or don't want.

ultimately it boils down to risk vs reward.
i.e. side effects are nothing if the alternative is you jumping 20 floors down due to depression.

the psychiatrist will have to weigh this carefully. patient also have to work with their therapist cooperatively for a dual pronged approach.

I am thinking the tiredness you feel would be more due to your activities after taking the pill than the pill itself ?
I myself don't really feel too tired after taking the pills.

If IMH insists on prescribing an anti depressant the best option is to opt for the non SSRI options eg Bupropion. There are far fewer sexual side effects and a certain percentage of patients who are on this drug actually report ENHANCED sexual pleasure.

hopefully the patient retains enough cognitive control to opt out loh. some are just a husk of themselves. esp those needing feeding tubes and bladder bags.

That's just another brand of generic Sildenafil Citrate. It's exactly the same as Viagra.

My experiences from other medications in original vs generic was original being much more effective.

Not exactly the same. Sildenafil/Kamagra is a lot more preferable to Viagra as it doesn't give you any side effects if any at all. Viagra usually you will get dry mouth and headaches.
